In August, Respond to Racism was proud to present another student panel, moderated by Bruce Poinsette, discussing student concerns with the LOSD SRO's.
Many surrounding school districts have listened to student concerns and either removed student resource officers entirely or began to divest from having a police presence on campus. Why hasn't the Lake Oswego School District followed suit?
While many seemed fired up about RTR's presentation on SROs two years ago, little action has followed.
For our August 1 discussion, we will revisit the SRO discussion and speak with current and former students about their vision for public safety and how the discussions are SROs with the district have gone behind the scenes.
